HACCP International’s product certification programme, ‘Food Safe Equipment, Materials and Services, is being used more and more extensively by Japanese companies that provide products to Asia’s fast expanding food industry.

In line with this growth in the region, HACCP International has recently opened an office in Tokyo and appointed Mr Nigel Asai to the role of ‘Managing Director – Japan and Korea.’

With many years trading experience, most recently with Electrolux, Mr Asai brings a wealth of knowledge of international commerce both inside and outside Japan. Having worked and studied in Japan, Europe and Asia Pacific, he has an excellent perspective and industry knowledge which he will be drawing on extensively as he takes up the reins of HACCP International’s business in Japan and Korea.

Nigel will be responsible for business development and relationships with HACCP International’s increasing customer base in the region which already includes companies such as Hitachi, Hoshizaki, Sumitomo, Kuraray, SMC and Youngsan.

Nigel Asai’s office will also be developing further relationships with key food industry organisations and businesses. He, and his staff, are well supported by an extensive technical team, the resources of HACCP International’s Asia Pacific office in Hong Kong and the Australian head office in Sydney.

Clive Withinshaw, Director of HACCP International in Australia said, “We’re thrilled to be putting roots down in Japan. It is one of the world’s most important food markets with high standards and an excellent reputation for food safety. Our certification scheme is well suited to that environment and Nigel’s trade background and product knowledge will make for a winning combination”.
