The seminar was designed to align with the needs of a growing food industry in Thailand which is paying increasing attention to industry and public concerns regarding food safety.

The event focused on the role of the Pest Control Operator (PCO) in providing a service to meet the specific needs of food handling facilities.

Ensuring pest management activities, including pesticides use, do not compromise food safety and adhering to best practice food safety standards were central to the theme. In addition, the PCOs were introduced to HACCP International’s best practice standard – Pest Management Services for Food Businesses – as part of a presentation by Bill Simos, APAC Managing Director for HACCP International.

The feedback from many of the 65 attendees who attended the event suggested the timing of the event and the presentations were both timely and important as compliance to food safety requirements is becoming increasingly important for pest managers operating in this key sector. Said Mr Simos, “This event demonstrates Syngenta’s commitment to the industry and I was delighted to assist. The level of engagement from the attendees was also impressive”.
